Time flies when you have something to do. After an intense working session, you may notice that it is much later than you thought and you will ask yourself why. MapleXP offers an excellent solution for timing your tasks. It lets you create different databases in which you may organize your tasks and time them. The software will display various statistics about your tasks, like the exact or quantum duration, value and more.

If you are interested in MapleXP, you can choose Express version, which is free or you can buy the Classic edition, which includes additional features. The application is compatible with multiple Windows versions, including XP, Vista and Win 7. The system requirements are low, but you will need to install the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Client Profile.

Tasks are organized in databases, which can be encrypted and password protected. You may bring up three separate windows, within the main window, to define your tasks, track and organize them. Creating a task involves naming it, typing a description and an hourly rate, if you are being paid. Once created, it will be displayed in a tree menu, on the Tasks window. If you have too many items in this menu, you can filter them by a time period. You can also find a summary for selected tasks, on the same window. It includes the number of sessions, duration and value.

It is possible to create sub-tasks as well and track all of them at once. When creating a task, you may click a check box to make it a container (folder) where you can add other tasks. You can start tracking a task with the options found on the Task Controller window. The created tasks can be selected in a drop menu, after which you need to click a Start button.

When your work is done, you may click a different button to stop timing your task. You can review it straight away and make adjustments to the recorded duration and add another description or you can access the Work Items window, where you will find all your sessions in a table of contents. It is possible to sort the listed items by day or name and filter them by date, name or comment.

Pros

MapleXP lets you define your own tasks, organize and time them. It displays useful statistics regarding a task's duration, broken down into sessions. If you opt for the software's classic edition, you can even calculate how much you are getting paid for specific tasks.

Cons

The window within a window approach is not very comfortable. MapleXP provides you with a clear picture on how much time you spend with certain tasks. Its flexibility allows you to keep track of any task, without too much effort.
